Traffic management and Network management

Traffic management involves optimising the flow of vehicles and other transport modes, traditionally focusing on vehicle throughput at intersections. However, modern traffic management has expanded to include public transport, cyclists, and pedestrians, intending to improve overall mobility and reduce emissions.

Today, traffic management is increasingly aligned with broader sustainability objectives, such as reducing vehicular emissions and prioritising sustainable transport modes, like cycling and public transport, at traffic signals.

POLIS involvement

POLIS offers a platform for local and regional authorities to share their experiences and best practices in traffic management, fostering collaboration and innovation in the Working Group Traffic Efficiency.
