Sofia relaunches tender for 52 new electric buses

Sofia has announced plans to relaunch a €14 million tender to purchase a new fleet of electric buses.

Stolichen Avtotransport, the public bus transport company of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, announced it has opened a new tender for supply of 52 new electric buses and charging stations for them worth an estimated total of 27.6 million levs ($15.6 million/14.1 million euro).

The tender is divided into two lots - one envisaging the supply of 30 buses of 5.5-7.5 metres, and another for supply of 22 buses of 7.6-9.6 metres in length, municipally-owned Stolichen Avtotransport said in a tender notice.

The first lot has an estimated value of 12.5 million levs, while the other contract's price is estimated at 15.1 million levs. The project benefits from EU funding under Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020. The deadline for submitting offers is April 21.

Bids will be ranked based on price, which carries 55% weight, as well as warranty conditions and technical characteristics. The initial tender, launched in September 2019, was cancelled in January 2020 due to technical errors in the documentation.
