Last chance to apply for the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK, SUMP and EU Road Safety Awards!
EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is the Europe-wide awareness-raising campaign on sustainable urban mobility. It facilitates behavioural change by promoting smart, clean and intelligent ways of moving within our cities. It takes place each year from 16-22 September. Local authorities are encouraged to use that week to test new transport measures and get feedback from the public. It is also an opportunity to discuss the different aspects of mobility and air quality, find innovative solutions and test new technologies and planning measures. With more towns and cities joining every year the campaign is widely recognized as a driving force towards sustainable urban mobility in Europe, and its annual awards are a prize hundreds of cities apply for every year.

9th SUMP Award
In the framework of EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK, the European Commission annually presents the European SUMP Award to a planning authority which demonstrated excellence in sustainable urban mobility planning. The aim of the SUMP Award is to encourage the adoption of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) by local authorities across Europe and to reward outstanding achievements in each year's thematic priority area. For this award edition, the theme of the SUMP Award is "Zero emission mobility for all". This year, in line with the announcement of the European Commission’s Green Deal, the applicants are expected to share their forward-looking intentions to create zero-emission and inclusive transport in their local context by the integration of sustainable transport modes to their mobility system. Applications should be submitted by 31 October 2020.
EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards
The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards recognise local authorities judged to have done the most to raise awareness of sustainable mobility during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK (16-22 September). To apply, local authorities must have implemented the three criteria and signed the Charter. The winners of the awards are chosen by an independent panel of transport experts. The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards are given out in two categories: one for municipalities larger than 50,000 inhabitants, and one for smaller municipalities under this threshold. Apply for the Award until 31 October!
EU Urban Road Safety Award
The EU Urban Road Safety Award highlights the contribution made by local authorities towards improving the safety of European roads. It rewards outstanding and innovative achievements by local authorities in the area of road safety and encourages the exchange of good practice across Europe. Recognizing the crucial role that towns and cities across Europe play in improving road safety, especially in light of the fact that 38 percent of road fatalities and more than 50 percent of serious road injuries occur on urban roads, the award rewards local authorities for adopting holistic measures to improve road safety, within the spirit of the internationally recognized 'Safe System' concept. Apply for the Award until 31 October!
