5th meeting of Safer City Streets
The ITF Safer City Streets initiative offers a platform for road safety experts to share their experience and develop a global database at city level. A full network meeting will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 10-11 April 2019.
Topics on the agenda include:
- Crash and casualty data collection systems, with a goal to exploit all available data sources and reduce under-reporting.
- Mobility data collection methods (e.g. origin-destination surveys and on-street counts) so as to guarantee comparability over time and between cities, which is essential in casualty risk analysis.
- Transit safety, with a particular focus on reducing the number of vulnerable road users killed and seriously injured in collisions with buses.
- Acting on infrastructure and behaviours to reduce the risk to vulnerable road users (speed, unprotected routes to school, etc.).
