Polis member RSM (Mobility Agency city of Rome) to speak at UN and WHO event "Active mobility - Making the change towards a green and healthy urban transport environment, in Rimini on 9 November 2018
The event aims to share best practice in active mobility and discuss innovations in the sector that can effectively improve the wellbeing of the urban population, and help metropolitan communities and countries as a whole to achieve the goals set out in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
The event will draw on the experiences of local authorities, international institutions as well as civil society to help shape the future of sustainable transport in the urban environment.
Mr Francesco Iacorossi, RSM (Mobility Agency city of Rome), will attend the event on behalf of Polis Network and will address the audience in Session 2 – Active mobility for a healthy community.
He will introduce the local actions carried out in Rome to promote physical activity by encouraging walking and cycling as a daily trasnport mode, the many ways active travel can contribute to build more liveable communities, and how the City of Rome is gearing up to become a healthy city. Francesco will also share his insight, lessons learnt and results of the European co-funded PASTA project on active travel ended in 2017.

It is an initiative of the United Nation Economic Commitee for Europe and the World Health Organisation, and aims to bridge the gap across the three sectors of transport, healht and environment by engaging with policy makers at the national Ministry level.
Polis Network is a supporter of THE PEP since 2013 and is contributing with best practice sharing among local governament in urban mobilty and healthy streets.
In 2018 Polis has joined THE PEP Partnership on the integration of transport, health and environment concerns in spatial and urban planning, led by the Russian Federation and France. Together we are developing a handbook on good practices and case studies in the field of sustainable transport and urban planning which will be presented at THE PEP High-level Ministerial Meeting in Vienna in November 2019 .
