Cities to discuss long-term investment at the European Parliament

What are the challenges faced by regional and local authorities as well as the private sector regarding long-term investments? How can the EU help to overcome them?

The event will address these questions and feature presentations on related key issues, followed by a debate involving representatives from EU institutions, city politicians and financial experts, on the current Eurostat rules and their impact on regional and local public investments across several sectors such as transport, energy efficiency and waste management.

The aim is to better understand what is at stake and explore possible avenues to transform current barriers into future opportunities for regions and cities. A catalogue featuring examples of barriers encountered by different sectors will also be presented and distributed at the event.
