POSSE final conference - integrated ITS for smarter cities

The final conference will enable the audience to:

-Find out how urban ITS interoperability can bring down costs for road authorities and open up the ITS market

-Learn about the plans of other cities and national authorities to implement open specifications and standards to deliver open transport data, on-street parking and a cooperative roadside station, among others

-Gain insight to the opportunities, challenges and practicalities of developing an open ITS systems framework in your city, region or country.

The main national initiatives supporting urban ITS interoperability, Germany’s OCIT/OCA and the UK’s UTMC, have shown considerable benefits from implementing open specifications and standards, including overcoming vendor lock-in, lower costs for systems procurement (especially traffic controllers) and for traffic operations as well as enabling improved strategic management of the network, among others.

The final conference is organised in conjunction with the final meeting of the POSSE Open ITS Systems Forum, which will mainly deal with exploitation issues, particular, recommendations for a European approach to dealing with urban ITS standards.
