European Disability and Parking Card Directives become EU laws

With this decision, the Directives have become an official EU law, starting a 30-month countdown for Member States to implement both regulations.

Member States have now the obligation to adapt the laws into their legal frameworks and set up the systems required to start issuing the Cards in a period of a maximum of 42 months. This means that both the disability and parking cards must be available in all Member States by 5 June 2028 at the latest.

The European Disability Forum encourages EU countries to start the process as soon as possible

The EDF calls for Member States to make this process a priority. For this, they will continue to support them during the implementation period and also keep its advocacy work towards the European Commission.
