Hubs for logistics
Urban logistics hubs are essential for consolidating and reducing the traffic impact of last-mile deliveries.
Urban logistics hubs should be designed to maximise capacity while minimising land use, including using high-rise or underground buildings and allowing access to shared facilities such as charging stations and rest facilities for drivers. Mixed-use developments, where logistics spaces are combined with commercial or recreational services, and temporary hubs are also possible solutions.
POLIS involvement
POLIS supports multiple projects focusing on logistics hubs to help cities streamline urban freight, one of them being MoLo Hubs, which is dedicated to enhancing logistics hubs across five European cities, including POLIS members Amsterdam and Mechelen.
POLIS’s involvement in MoLo Hubs ensures that mobility hubs become more efficient and sustainable, reducing traffic and emissions while enhancing accessibility. Through this project, POLIS fosters the integration of clean and active modes of transport within logistics hubs, showcasing sustainable urban freight solutions across Europe.
